Alexander & Tom, Inc. Wins Two Davey Awards
Alexander &Tom, Inc. (A+T), an interactive agency in Baltimore, MD, received two 2011 Silver Davey Awards from the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA). The IAVA is a membership-based organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts, dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.
A+T won a 2011 Silver Davey Award for its online marketing campaign for the U.S. Department of State’s "Democracy Video Challenge". The campaign was developed to help spread the message about the Democracy Video Challenge, worldwide. Using Web 2.0 marketing (blogs, Facebook, Twitter and email) and online advertising with industry partners (Google, NBC, YouTube and others), we were able to generate over 1,600 entries from 140 countries.

The second 2011 Silver Davey Award was given for A+T’s work on the National Park Service’s "Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail" website. The website’s main goal is to increase awareness of, and visitation to, the 3,000 miles of historic trails and points of interest on the nation’s first water-based National Historic Trail, the Captain John Smith Chesapeake Trail. The website provides both a chronicle of Captain John Smith’s exploration of the Chesapeake Bay in the early 1600’s and a resource guide to all of the parks, trails, and points of interest related to the “Smith Trail”. The website includes cutting edge mapping technologies, interactive historical maps, build-your-own itinerary capability and live buoy feeds that provide real-time bay conditions to boaters and fishermen.
