Overview
Alexander & Tom worked with Black & Decker to design and develop their website and other online marketing materials. This site showcases thousands of Black & Decker tools. The product pages are database-driven, enabling any product change to be instantly updated in every location where it appears on the site. The site features “Buy Now” e-commerce capabilities, member loyalty programs, and a digital online video library.
Challenge
There were multiple divisions of the company that all wanted their products and sections to be bigger, better, or different than the other divisions. Convincing the Black & Decker team that all pages need to operate in the same or similar fashion in order to increase value to the end user was critical. Internal processes for copy and content approvals go through many layers, with multiple decision makers. This made copy approvals and product descriptions time consuming, but the outcome was a centralized repository and descriptions that can be accessed by any employee, which now saves the company time.
