MD State Police Website
Online Training Program That Provides Video, Interactive Exercises and Flash-Based Animations
Overview
Alexander & Tom worked with the Maryland State Police’s Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services to create an online handgun safety training program, required by law for all U.S citizens who want to purchase a handgun in MD. A+T created all aspects of the program, webcast, website, hosting, database infrastructure and reporting systems.
The primary goal was to create an efficient, easy-to-access method of delivering training to U.S. citizens, who wish to become gun owners. The solution was a start-to-finish, online tool that provides video, interactive exercises and Flash-based animations. The secondary goal was to replace traditional classroom settings, and eliminate the cost of holding those classes. While the site needed to be rich and engaging, it also needed to be easy-to-use, and meet accessibility standards for users with disabilities (Section 508 compliance). The state’s goal was also to “raise the bar” for their online learning materials.
