National Aquarium Website & CMS
Easy-to-Manage Content Management Solutions
Overview
The National Aquarium website can be viewed at www.aqua.org. The website is a new generation website that allows the National Aquarium to quickly and easily add new materials: stories, photographs, features, and video – without the assistance of a programmer.
The site, which encompasses hundreds of pages, has easy-to-access information on the Aquarium’s animals and exhibits. The site also brings special focus to the National Aquarium’s conservation efforts. Most importantly, the site makes it easy for visitors to purchase tickets online and then plan their visits to the Aquarium.
“The National Aquarium website is a great project to be involved with. It’s a ‘teach-and-reach’ website… it will help the National Aquarium get the message out about all of the great work they do. There is so much to see and do there, especially with the new Australia Exhibit,“ said Billy Twigg, President of Alexander & Tom. “This is one of the greatest attractions in the U.S., so hundreds of thousands of people will visit this site as they are planning trips to the area. I definitely think this site, which has a ton of information in it, will: A.) make people want to visit the Aquarium… and B.) show people that the Aquarium is much more than just an attraction, they are doing a lot with education and conservation - and now people will see that and hopefully get involved.”
Visitors to the site will also find information for both Teachers and Students, and a special Kids Club section featuring the Aquarium’s own “Seymour, the scuba diver” - star of their advertising campaigns. One section of the site gives visitors the ability to create an E-Postcard, by selecting an Aquarium photo image and then adding their personal message to it and simply clicking a button to email it to a friend. A user can also sign up for Aqua-Mail, to receive the Aquarium’s newsletter of events and updates. Aqua Mail, and many more features on the site, will help the Aquarium teach the public more about their conservation efforts and their animals.
