Blackstone River Valley National Historic Park

Video Series and Educational Website Production

Working closely with the National Park Service (NPS) and the Blackstone River Valley National Historic Park of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, A&T was tasked with creating a multimedia website and video highlighting the historical significance of the Blackstone River’s early mills and canal, and their effect on the industrialization of our young nation.

The A&T team traveled to key sites in Lincoln, Rhode Island, visited the local NPS visitor center, consulted with Park rangers, and toured historical mill sites. While there, we reviewed historical photography and documents, and captured video including drone footage, and 360-degree outdoor photos.

Collaborating with NPS subject matter experts, we crafted a a content strategy and video scripts covering the five major aspects of the valley, from the earliest settlements and the people who worked there, to modern day development and use. Each video is rich with reference photos which we then enhanced with 3D animations.

To provide '508-compliance' and 'ease of use' for viewers with audio or visual impairments we enabled each video with closed-captioning and 'audio descriptions'

A&T then created a multimedia microsite to house each of the video “chapters,” which can be viewed on the National Park Service website. See link below.
